The Pan Borneo Highway Project will bring a lot of benefits not only to the local community but also to all users upon its completion.
However, it is not without its own weaknesses.
John Ilus (GPS-Bukit Semuja), in his speech supporting the motion of appreciation to the Head of State for his opening address, listed out several feedback on the project for the consideration of relevant authorities.
Amongst the feedback were the unavailability of a direct way out to Serian Flyover I from Taman Pasir, Serian for those who wished to go to Kuching and the unavailability of an intersection to Serian town along Serian-Bypass (from Kuching to Sri Aman) apart from turning back at Serian II which led to a proposal of establishing a “P Turn” or a traffic light at a strategic location.
Apart from that, John said that Sungai Serian (from St Theresa Church in Serian to Sungai Sadong) needed to be enlarged to avoid flooding because the river was too narrow compared to its water source.
He also requested for a small bridge in Sungai Sadong next to the existing bridge for motorcyclists.
Moreover, he pointed out the undercarriage under Sungai Sadong bridge needed to be established for the local residents of Kampung Hulu and Kampung Hilir.
He also requested for enlargement of culverts in Kampung Munggu Limo to avoid flooding as well as the establishment of “U Turn” in strategic locations.
“For this Pan Borneo project, along with the representatives from Kedup and Balai Ringin, we also requested for corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes from involved authorities under this project,” he said.
