KUCHING: The community members in Demak Laut constituency are advised to undergo health screening to avoid more serious illnesses.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability who is also Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Hipni said that non-communicable diseases (NCD) such as heart attack, high blood pressure and diabetes usually did not show any symptoms, so it was advisable to do a health check.
“For those who have a non-communicable disease, they must be examined as early as possible before the age of 40,” he said after launching the Free Health Screening programme at Dewan Dato Sri Wan Junaidi Kampung Tabuan Lot, Kuching today.
The programme was organised by Sihat Sarawakku in collaboration with Demak Laut Constituency Service Centre and Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Demak Laut Branch.
“This allows the community to do the health screening here without going to hospitals and clinics.
“They offer comprehensive services including physical examination such as the body mass index, vital signs and blood tests.
“However, blood screening is only for B40 families, so take this opportunity to get a free health screening,” he added.
There are 34 locations in the Demak Laut constituency for the programme.
