BAU: Constituents in Serembu, Mambong and Tarat are urged to give unconditional support to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate contesting for the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat.

Tarat assemblyman Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that he would support whoever is chosen by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) leadership and the president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He urged people to give their support to the chosen candidate and take back Puncak Borneo under PBB.

“We need to give support to whoever is chosen by the leadership of the party. Puncak Borneo will be ours and of course we will also agree with the chosen candidate.

“We are coming from different constituencies but this time we are united and working together under the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat,” he said.

Sagah, who is also Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, said this when speaking at the Jelajah Puncak Borneo PBB in Serembu Eco-Park Siniawan, yesterday (Sept 10).

He believed that the other Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties (Parti Rakyat Sarawak-PRS, Progressive Democratic Party-PDP and Sarawak United People’s Party-SUPP) would support whoever is nominated.

According to him, the defeat of Barisan Nasional (BN) in Puncak Borneo in the 14th general election was due to lack of cooperation between the three constituencies.

“Cooperation is important, because our struggle is not just for individuals, not even just for the Puncak Borneo area, but our struggle is for Sarawak,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh said that all parties in the Puncak Borneo area needed to ensure that the parliamentary seat falls into the hands of GPS.

He said that they have lost the parliamentary seat for five years and they need to reclaim the seat in the name of PBB and GPS.

“I call and request GPS supporters as well as PBB members to give full support to our top leadership and the struggle to ensure that the Puncak Borneo seat belongs to GPS in the upcoming general election,” he explained.
