BEKENU: Construction of the new Subis District Office building is currently ongoing by contractor Fastart Sdn Bhd.
The location of the premises is at Kampung Rambai (Bekenu town) on the other side of Sungai Sibuti.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus expressed hope that the project would be completed on time.
“The project costs RM5.9mil covering an area of 28.4 acres and has two phases.
“The first phase (area cleanup) was completed in September 2022, followed by the second phase in October 2022.
“In the meantime, the soil compactor in phase one has been completed while the second phase is 50 per cent completed.”
Rosey said this after meeting with the Public Works Department (JKR) and the contractor on Friday (Feb 3).
The Bekenu assemblywoman stated that the construction of the Subis Community Hall, which costs RM2.5mil, was also brought up with JKR.
“In addition, the waterfront at Kampung Rambai Sungai Sibuti costs RM5mil.
“The Kampung Bulau Bridge project was approved at RM4.18mil, however it is now waiting for an extra allocation of RM5.17mil due to the change in site,” she noted.
The total amount of the four Bekenu projects is RM17.58mil.
Also present at the discussion were Subis District officer Norlila Ulis, Subis District Council secretary Farrah Sofya Mohd Sharbini, Miri JKR engineer Stephen Ung Neng Hui, Miri JKR assistant engineer Louis Jonathan Philip and Fastart Sdn Bhd managing director Tommy Raymond Jom.
