KUCHING: Consult the state Attorney-General (AG) should there be any doubt on the recent passing of the Constitution of the State of Sarawak (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
This was said by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Women chief Kho Teck Wan.
She said Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh and his fellow comrades in PSB and Democratic Action Party (DAP) should go and see the state AG if they feel uncertain of the recent amendment Bill.
“What is the point of Soon Koh challenging SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian over the amendment Bill?
“After all, the debate should and had happened in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN),” she told New Sarawak Tribune today.
Kho was responding to Wong who had challenged Dr Sim to debate on the recent amendment Bill.
She added that as Minister of Local Government and Housing, as well as a member of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, Dr Sim is doing double duty.
“When we are fighting the pandemic, it is not in the interest of the people to be focusing their energy on arguing over an already hotly debated and passed Bill,” she said.
She said studies had shown that the worst of the pandemic in Malaysia is yet to come.
“With Kuching still a red zone and an increasing unemployment rate, all politicians should be united to fight the pandemic instead,” stressed Kho.
