MIRI: After a student of the National Youth Training Institute (IKBN) Miri was found Covid-19 positive locals have been urged to remain vigilant.
“Continue observing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the ongoing recovery movement control order (RMCO),” said chairman of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC), Datuk Lee Kim Shin, today (Sept 30).
According to him when contacted today (Sept 30), the female student just returned from Papar, Sabah and reported herself at the institute at 4.55pm last Monday (Sept 28).
Prior to her arrival at Miri Airport she was screened in Sabah. As she tested negative she was allowed to enter Sarawak.
Upon arrival at Miri Airport, she was randomly selected to undergo another test, and the result released on Sept 29 showed she tested positive.
Lee was responding to a viral WhatApp post on the case today.
“Yes, the message circulating on WhatApp is true, and the girl has been taken to Miri Hospital to be quarantined,” he said.
“Other girls at the institute have been told to self-quarantine in their rooms.”
