KUCHING: The Department of Meteorology Malaysia (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of continuous rain in Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman and Betong until Christmas Eve, Dec 24.
Continuous very heavy rain (danger) is expected to occur with a total of more than 150 mm of rain in a 24-hour period.
According to a statement released by METMalaysia this morning (Dec 23), continuous heavy rain is also expected in Sarikei and Mukah (Tanjung Manis and Daro) until tomorrow.
A warning of continuous heavy rain (severe) is issued when heavy rain is expected to occur with the amount of rainfall exceeding 60 mm in a period of six hours.
Under the continuous heavy rain (alert), category, MetMalaysia said the affected areas are expected to see ongoing rain or thunderstorm in the areas of Sibu, Matu, Dalat, Mukah, Bintulu, Subis, Beluru, Miri, Marudi, Limbang until Dec 24, including several areas in Sabah until Dec 26.
Meanwhile, a second high tide in Sarawak is expected to occur at around 4.34pm today with water levels easing and reaching 5.33m, while a second low tide is expected to occur at around 10.22pm.
