KUCHING: Consumers can breathe a sigh of relief as the water supply remains uninterrupted, even in the wake of a water leakage incident in the open space area along the road shoulder leading to the Shell petrol station at the BDC flyover on Tun Jugah Road.

Responding to consumer reports on Jan  8, the Kuching Water Board (KWB) swiftly took action to locate the source of the leak.

“There are three main pipelines – 450mm DI, 600mm MSCL and 15inch AC pipe – buried with other utilities cables along this stretch of road reserve.

“The board conducted several valve tests and interconnection isolations last week, with ongoing efforts to identify the damaged pipe source while minimizing water supply interruptions to consumers in the BDC areas.

“Once the damaged pipeline is confirmed and isolated then only will repair works be carried out. In the meantime, the board will supply water to areas facing low water pressure through water tankers,” KWB said in a recent statement.

Acknowledging the potential inconvenience caused, KWB advised consumers in the affected areas to store water to mitigate any potential disruptions during the repair work.

“We deeply apologise for any inconvenience caused,” added KWB.

For complaints or queries, consumers can reach out to the KWB Call Centre at 082-222333 or send an SMS to 019-8866650.
