KUCHING: Police seized 2,880 cans of contraband beer from a truck during a spot check at the Mile 7 traffic light junction at Jalan Stakan yesterday.
Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the raid was conducted by three patrol officers of the Kota Sentosa Police Station after receiving the report around 11.30am.
“They found 120 boxes of beer suspected to be contraband.
“The police also arrested a 24-year-old male suspect who has a previous criminal record,” said Aidil in a statement.
The seized items, including a truck, are estimated to be worth RM23,040.
The arrest and seizure were made under section 135 (1) (D) of the Customs Act 1967.
