MIRI: The Customs Department has seized contraband cigarettes and alcohol of
various brands worth RM10,368.38, inclusive of tax, following a raid held on Wednesday.
State Customs director Datuk Sharifah Halimah Tuanku Taha revealed that the raid was conducted on a house in Desa Senadin PHS 2C, Kuala Baram 2 at 6.20pm.
“A total of 6,684 sticks of cigarettes and 238.68 litres of alcohol were found in the house with unpaid taxes of RM8,650.24. The items were later seized,” she added in a press statement yesterday.
The contrabands were discovered in one of the bedrooms inside the house.
A man was also detained during the raid to assist in the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 135 of Customs Act 1967.
