MIRI: Police here on Monday seized contrabands of cigarettes and liquors worth RM8,000 during a raid at a premise in the city.
In disclosing this in a statement today, Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the raid was carried out by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
“During the raid, the police also detained a man to assists in their investigation,” he said.
A total 50 boxes of liquors and 930 cartons of various types of cigarettes were seized during the raid dubbed ‘ops kontraban’.
The suspect is currently being detained at Miri central Polis station (CPS) for questioning.
The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
