One week to complete health clinic project

KUCHING: The contractor for the RM600,000 Kampung Bintawa Health Clinic has been given one week to complete the project.

Santubong MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the project which was approved in 2017 with an allocation of RM450,000 was discontinued when Pakatan Harapan took over Putrajaya in 2018.

“The project has been taken over by the state government and the fund for the clinic is borne by the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) with an allocation of RM600,000,” said Wan Junaidi in a press conference yesterday after attending a briefing on the progress of the health clinic project and the proposed new mosque and suraus at Santubong Parliament Service Centre, Jalan Kulas.

He said the construction of the clinic was supposed to be completed in July but due to various reasons, the project was delayed and is only 50 per cent completed.

“I have given a final notice to the contractors that they are to finish the building’s physical works in one week such as floor tiles, doors, windows and so on.

“Because in two weeks’ time on Dec 16, I will visit the clinic and will not tolerate any excuses.

“This clinic will be 100 per cent better than the previous clinic in Bintawa Ulu, with better facilities and will benefit over 16,000 residents from 12 villages,” he said.

Presently, the villagers have to go to the Tanah Putih clinic as the Bintawa Ulu clinic will be demolished.

Wan Junaidi also noted that the Kampung Sembilan Beradik mosque, Misbahul Muda Kampung Semilang mosque, Kampung Salak mosque, Taman Sepakat Jaya II mosque, Al-Falah Taman Mesra Bako surau, and Nurul Hijrah Kampung Bukit Kudi surau will be implemented soon.

“These mosques and surau were approved in 2013 but were scrapped by the PH federal government.

“The projects have to be reworked and through the Sarawak government and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, the fund of RM7.65 million was approved and allocated through Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak.
