KUCHING: Under-performing contractors under the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) will be terminated based on their grade in effort to deliver better services towards the public.
According to MPP chairman who is also Batu Kitang Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang, this is the way to improve and ensure that the quality work would be delivered to the public.
“We want to tell our contractors that if they are not doing a good job, we will not hesitate to terminate them.
“I am sorry that we have to be strict in order to ensure our contractors will deliver quality works,” said Lo when visiting a Road and Drainage project at Lorong 2, which is undertaken by the Public Works Department (JKR)in Rantau Panjang, Batu Kawa, yesterday.
Lo also noted the council is going to grade their contractors based on their performances.
“We are going to grade our contractors, those with A grade will get more jobs, those with B grade will be given less jobs, while those in C grade will be given warning, and for the D grade, they will be terminated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lo said that the council can still improve their overall services delivery to the public.
He said a better performance is needed in order to meet the public expectation.
“So today, I hope that with this inspection, not only will we get good contractors, our administrative procedures can also be improved to ensure that we administer our projects with more stringent and effective measures in order to deliver the good quality works to meet the expectation of our ‘rakyat’,” said Lo.
