KUCHING: A man accused of robbing a convenience store was released by the Sessions Court here yesterday on RM10,000 bail with two local sureties.
Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd @ Mohd Yusoff sentenced Mohd Idzuan Sukrie Zamhari, 22, after he pleaded not guilty.
According to the fact of case, Idzuan, armed with a brass knuckle, robbed the convenience store in Jalan Padungan at 4am on March 17.
According to the victim who worked at the convenience store counter, a man wearing a black jacket and black helmet approached him and directed him to hand over money while pointing the brass knuckle to his left cheek. Out of fear, the victim handed over cash in the cash register machine.
Idzuan ran off with more than RM1,000 and two packs of cigarettes but was arrested on March 20 at Kampung Segedup by the police with the victim’s help.
Idzuan was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code read together with Section 397 of the same Code which provides for a maximum jail of 14 years and also liable to a fine and whipping upon conviction.
Prosecutor Nur Fadzlin Zulhasnan did not object to the sentence.
The re-mention of the case is fixed for May 3.
