KUCHING: The Creative and Innovative Group (KIK) Convention supports the state government’s goal to boost innovation and creativity in the civil service.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, said that such efforts can lead to time and cost savings in managing various tasks and challenges.
“Innovative approaches, whether in creating products, designing systems, or engineering solutions, improve the quality of our services. As a result, organisations that prioritise innovation often stand out for their superior performance,” said Len in his opening speech during the convention at the Penview Convention Centre here today (Sept 12).
The convention, running from Sept 12 to 14, features 22 KIK groups and nearly 500 attendees from the Land and Survey Department, Sarawak Forestry Corporation, Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation, and the Department of Sarawak Forestry. It was organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development (MUDENR).
Len added that efforts to nurture this mindset among civil servants should be fully supported and promoted across all public sector ranks.
“Every member, including the senior management of MUDENR and its associated bodies, should focus on creating an innovative environment. This means inspiring new thoughts, nurturing talents, and leveraging the creativity of their teams,” he said.
