LUNDU: The Konvoi Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) organised by the Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) Sarawak rolled into the district today (Aug 6) in bright sunshine.

The six-vehicle convoy, which departed Kuching this morning after a brief stop at Kampung Stom Muda, was greeted by Opar assemblyman Billy Sunjang at the Lundu District Office.

The convoy’s arrival was met with enthusiasm from the local community, who joined in the patriotic spirit by singing along to the convoy’s patriotic songs.

JAPEN Sarawak director Helmy Hamid presented the Jalur Gemilang to Billy, who proudly hoisted the flag in front of the district office.

r a send-off by Billy and Assistant District Officer Zulkipli Morshidi, the convoy headed to Sematan town.

Welcomed by Assistant Administrative Officer Mohd Ameerullah Roslan at 11 am, the convoy distributed Jalur Gemilang flags to local traders before continuing its journey to Kilometer 0, Telok Melano, and the Tugu Pahlawan in Kampung Jangkar.

The convoy is scheduled to visit Kampung Biawak later before heading to Bau district.
