KUCHING: Cooking oil in 1kg packs sold under the Kapten brand weighing 600kg and worth RM1,500 were seized from a house in Jalan Julutong Barat, Sarikei on Wednesday (Aug 10).
The raid was conducted by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).
According to Sarikei KPDNHEP head Mohamad Zawawi, the raid was made because the owner of the premises was suspected of illegally storing packets of cooking oil.
He said the operation was carried out to ensure sufficient supply of controlled goods such as sugar, cooking oil and flour in the market.
“This is in addition to preventing the occurrence of illegal activities such as the hoarding of controlled items.
“We would like to warn any individual or company to not get involved in fraudulent activities.”
