Cooperation between governments benefits the people: PM

KAPIT: Issues in rural and remote areas, such as roads, bridges, and basic amenities, need continuous attention from both the Sarawak and Federal Governments.

Prime Minister  Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim added that cooperation between Sarawak and the Federal Government is for the benefit of the people, and that is why he came to Sarawak.

“A progressive state attracts investment, and the state must be stable and peaceful so that outsiders will view it favourably,” he said.

“Earlier, I, together with the Premier (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg), visited the location where the new  Kapit District Police Headquarters (IPD)will be developed.

“This kind of facility is important to ensure the safety of our people,” the Prime Minister said at the Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat programme at Rumah Robert Nanga Sebatu here Sunday (Sept 29).

This Kapit IPD will be built on 45.6 acres of land, involving several buildings and various facilities.

Among the structures to be built are a three-storey administration building, a storage building, an indoor shooting range, a parade ground, and a covered team vehicle garage.

Additionally, a multipurpose hall, a football field, a chapel, and a surau will also be constructed.

For the convenience of officers and personnel, two five-storey Class F quarters blocks with 38 residential units, 6 Class D quarters units, a Perkep house, and a daycare centre will also be built.

Also present were the Minister of Works and Member of Parliament for Kapit Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the Minister of Home Affairs Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and the Deputy Minister of Digital Communications and Member of Parliament for Hulu Rajang Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong.
