MIRI : A man was shot in the foot while trying to assault a team of policemen at Jalan Desa Pujut, Bandar Baru Permyjaya here on Thursday.
A squad of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel was about to ar rest a group of house-breaking suspects when one of the suspects attack them in his bid to escape from the scene.
Despite a warning shot been fired, the suspect lunged at the detect ives wi th a dangerous weapon. A police officer then opened fire to defend himself.
The suspect was later arrested and sent to the Miri Hospital for treatment where his condition was reported to be stable.
