SARATOK: Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help them in their investigation into a hit-and-run accident which left a motorcyclist dead.
Sarikei police chief DSP Mordani Tanin said the fatal accident occurred at Sarikei-Betong KM94 around 10.40 am yesterday (Sept 7).
“On-site investigation revealed that the accident happened when the 84-years-old victim, approaching a winding uphill section, was sideswiped by an unidentified vehicle, causing him to veer off the road into a ditch on the left side.
“He was thrown into the ditch and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Preliminary investigations show that the fault lies with the unknown suspect and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 198,” he said.
