KUCHING: A police officer and a senior citizen suffered injuries during a road crash at Jalan Rock here yesterday.

According to State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the incident occurred around 1.15pm.

The vehicle that was driven by the senior citizen.

“The policeman who is a Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) for the Kuching police team, suffered injuries to his right leg and is currently receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“The motorist who is 70 years old, also suffered minor injuries to his right arm in the accident,” he said.

It is understood that the car belonging to the elderly citizen was moving towards the city centre from Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the opposing (right) side of the road.

As a result, the vehicle collided into a URB officer’s motorcycle which was coming from the city centre.

Alexson said the case will be investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
