BAU: Police here successfully apprehended a suspect involved in a motorcycle theft case on July 11.
The suspect, a 21-year-old local male, was detained at a construction site in Tasik Biru around 8pm following a report on the theft incident earlier in the day.
According to Bau District Police chief, DSP Jawai Francis Kempas, police received a report at approximately 4.20pm from a man claiming his motorcycle had been stolen in front of the Kampung Bunga Rampai mosque. The swift response and investigation led to the identification and arrest of the suspect within hours.
Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to the theft. A criminal record check revealed that the suspect had prior offences related to drug abuse and theft. The stolen motorcycle was recovered in the suspect’s possession at the time of his arrest.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which stipulates a prison sentence of no less than one year and no more than seven years, and fine.
The suspect is currently on a four-day remand to facilitate further investigation and to determine the suspect’s involvement in other theft cases.
