Cops arrest duo linked to armed robbery after chase to shophouse roof

The suspects being arrested for alleged involvement in an armed gang robbery in Balingian, Mukah.

BINTULU: Two local men, who are allegedly involved in an armed gang robbery, were arrested yesterday (Apr 16) following a chase that led the police to the roof of a shophouse at Pasar Lama area.

Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said the suspects were involved in a gang robbery wielding machetes in Balingian, Mukah.

“The suspects sought refuge in a budget hotel in Pasar Lama after fleeing from the scene.

“In a video clip that went viral, the suspects were arrested by Mukah and Bintulu Criminal Investigation Division (CID) personnel to facilitate investigations into the Balingian incident,” he said in a statement.

He said the victim  had lodged a police report in Balingian. The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.

Nixon advised the public not to speculate on the case as it may interfere in police investigations.
