PADAWAN: Police have arrested a man and a teenage girl as well as recovered three stolen motorcycles during an anti-vehicle theft operation.

According to Padawan OCPD Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, the suspects, aged 18 and 22, were taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

He stated that the operation codenamed ‘Op Lejang’ was conducted around the district from 8pm on Friday (Aug 9) to 4am on Saturday (Aug 10).

“The operation led to the arrest of a man and a woman, along with the recovery of three stolen motorcycles.

“Both suspects and the motorcycles have been taken to Padawan district police headquarters (IPD) for further investigation,” he said when contacted.

Mohd Irwan pointed out that the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft.

The Section carries a maximum sentence of seven years’ imprisonment, and a fine, upon conviction.
