KUCHING: Police arrested two local suspects in Semariang on June 5 for their involvement in a vehicle theft case in Bintawa on May 17,2024.
According to deputy district police chief Supt Merbin Lisa, the suspects, aged 23 and 29, caused a loss of RM5,000 to their victim.
“Acting on intelligence, the police arrested and seized an Isuzu Trooper vehicle linked to the theft. Th officers also confiscated an air gun, as well as clothing and tools believed to have been used in the crime.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that both suspects have a history of criminal activities, with four and eight prior arrests respectively, involving drug abuse and other offences. Additionally, both individuals tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said today.
The suspects are being remanded until June 10, to facilitate further investigations into their potential involvement in other criminal activities. The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of imprisonment ranging from one to seven years, and possibly a fine.
