KUCHING: Three men were caught red-handed breaking into a house by a police patrol unit over the weekend.
In a statement on Wednesday (Feb 9), Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the trio were picked up following a tip-off from the public.
“The break-in took place at Lorong 3A, Sungai Maong Tengah.
“The suspects, aged between 30 and 39, failed to produce any valid identification to the patrol unit.
“One of the suspects has three outstanding records related to drugs and one on theft.”
Police also seized tools such as a cutter, hammer, machete as well as a DVD player, decorations and wires.
Initial investigation found that all three had at least committed two break-ins in areas here between 2am and 5am.
“All three suspects are being remanded under Section 17 of the Penal Code for seven days from Feb 7 to 13.”
The case is classified under Section 457 of the Penal Code and Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
