MIRI: Police have confirmed that a recent dispute at a wet market here, which went viral on social media, has been settled peacefully.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said that a local man had a file report regarding a disagreement with a group of men and a woman he knew over vegetable sales.

“According to the report, no further investigation was requested as both parties settled the matter peacefully.

“Nevertheless, we have called all those involved to provide their testament to ensure that the issue was resolved properly,” he said in a statement.

In light of this, Alexson advised the public to refrain from speculating or spreading unverified news on social media that could cause unnecessary anxiety among local residents.

He also urged the public to always be aware of their surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activities.
