SARIKEI: Police are hunting for a man suspected of robbing a clothing store here armed with a knife.

Sarikei District police chief Supt Awang Arfian Awang Bujang told the media that his men were analysing CCTV footage to get a better description of the suspect.

He believed that more than one person was involved in yesterday’s crime as the suspect made his escape in a car.

“After grabbing the victim’s jewellery, the suspect was seen leaving in a car using a fake licence plate,” said Supt Arfian.

In the incident that happened around 12.50pm here, a man walked into a clothing store in Jalan Masjid Lama and approached a female customer.

He threatened her with a knife and a struggle ensued.

The suspect managed to escape with the victim’s jewellery worth some RM3,000.

The case has been classified as armed robbery and is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
