KUCHING: A recent viral video of a man who dressed as a woman and rode a motorcycle without wearing a helmet and face mask, has caught the attention of the police.
District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah who confirmed the case, stated that the 55-second video went viral on Facebook last Saturday around 8.40am.
“Acting on information received, Kuching Traffic Police managed to locate the man through the motorcycle’s registration number and instructed him to come forward with the motorcycle and the clothes worn in the viral video.
“Investigation found that the video was recorded in a residential area in Cenderawasih, Petra Jaya in April and was re-uploaded to Facebook on June 24 at 7pm,” he said.
The 29-year-old man appeared at the Kuching Traffic Police office with the items.
He noted that the police issued two Pol 257 compounds under Section 26 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for not having a license and Traffic Rules 4 LN43/73 for not wearing a helmet.
In addition, an investigation paper was also opened by Kuching Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021 related to the standard operating procedures non-compliance.
Ahsmon pointed out that the case is still under investigation and will be referred to the Attorney General’s Office for further instruction.
