MIRI: Police have launched an investigation following a report of trespassing and property damage at a plantation in Batu Niah.

According to Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, a report on the incident was received around 8.34 am last Sunday, involving several individuals who allegedly entered the plantation area unlawfully and caused damage to property owned by the company.

The case is being investigated under Sections 148, 447, and 427 of the Penal Code, which pertain to rioting, criminal trespass, and mischief, respectively.

Authorities are currently tracking the suspects involved in the incident.

Police urged members of the public not to speculate on the matter, especially via social media, as it could lead to unnecessary tension within the local community.

The police have also expressed their appreciation for the cooperation and information provided by the public.
