KOTA SAMARAHAN: A local man, believed to be mentally unsound, has been arrested yesterday (July 20) for allegedly vandalising vehicles with a wooden stick.

Kota Samarahan OCPD DSP Jaimi Husin, when contacted last night, confirmed that the arrest happened around 2.25pm.

The 52-year-old suspect was picked up by a team comprising the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and the Kota Samarahan Crime Prevention Patrol along Jalan Chai Chon, Kampung Kuap.

“Also seized from him was a wooden stick believed to be used in the mischief incident.

“We have obtained statements from local witnesses claiming that the suspect is suffering from mental health issues.

“The suspect has been referred to Kota Sentosa Hospital for verification purposes and if further treatment is needed,” he said.

Jaimi added that the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.

On Friday (July 19), police received a report from a local woman regarding the suspect vandalising her vehicle in front of Bucida Resident.

According to her report, the suspect swung a stick at her Honda car while she was driving in front of the residential area.

The incident caused damages to the car’s left rear light and incurred a loss of about RM1,200.

It was understood that the suspect had been swinging small and large wooden sticks at passing vehicles since Tuesday after numerous photos and videos went viral on social media.
