KUCHING: City police are currently investigating an alleged riot said to have taken place in Brighton Square here recently.
Earlier this week, a man took to Facebook and uploaded pictures of five men and offered a cash reward of RM2,000 per person to the public for information leading to the arrest of the individuals who allegedly caused the riot.
Hours later, the man increased the reward to RM5,000 per person.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah when contacted, confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
“It is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting,” he told New Sarawak Tribune.
The section provides for a prison sentence of up to five years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
