LUBOK ANTU: Police are looking for Jeffrey Tarang to assist them in investigations into a human trafficking case last month.

Lubok Antu police chief DSP Victor Ripon said that the suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Rh Mundau Rakut, Lubok Antu.

He said the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is looking for Jeffrey, who is wanted to assist in a case reported on Oct 19.

“The case is being investigated under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act 2007 and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

“In the case, three local men suspected of facilitating the illegal entry of three Indonesians into Malaysia via an illegal route in Lubok Antu, have already been arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (SOSMA) 2012.

“However, Jeffrey, who is believed to be involved in the case, remains at large and is suspected to have sought refuge in Kuching,” he said.

Victor said the police are tracking down the suspect.

Members of the public with any information on Jeffrey’s whereabouts, are urged to contact the police.

He encouraged the public to promptly contact the Lubok Antu police station at 083-584102 or the investigating officer Insp Muhammad Firdaus Saldi at 018-3144350 or any of the nearest police station.
