SIBU: Police are investigating a bullying case in which a student of a secondary school in Sibujaya was assaulted by seven other students.

A video clip on the assault has gone viral since Saturday. The 25-second video showed the victim being cornered by the group.

One of the suspects kicked and punched the victim repeatedly while others clapped as they watched the assault.

Sibu deputy police chief Supt Martin Koo said the incident happened on Friday evening after school was over and the students were all in their school uniform.

The school principal only lodged a police report on Saturday night following police advice.

“Sibujaya police station contacted the principal and advised him to make a police report. We are asking the school to help us identify the victim and the rest of the students involved,” Koo said.

He added that the police were expected to pick up the suspects soon for questioning.
