KAPIT: Kapit District Council (KDC) decided to assist hawkers by setting up counters to gather the individual data and businesses licenses of hawkers conducting businesses at the council’s Market Teresang on Sunday.
This is in response to the announcement of the RM1.1 billion government stimulus package to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), petty traders and hawkers.
Hawkers at Market Teresang have valid trading licenses issued by the council with an annual rent, while the temporary hawkers selling jungle produce pay RM2 a day to rent the venue to display their products.
The hawkers and petty traders are eligible to receive RM1,500 from the government stimulus package and those conducting business at government-owned buildings were eligible for free rental until September.
