KUCHING: The Matang District Scout Council (MPDM) made a courtesy call on Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang at his office in Kota Padawan today (Feb 9).

Matang District Scout Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abol, who led the group, informed Lo of the planning of scouting activities in Matang district.

He said there are several schools in the Batu Kitang constituency that fall under the Matang Scout District.

“With that being the case, the scout movement in Matang district needs support from the local assemblyman, community leaders, parents and teachers,” he said in a statement.

On another note, Lo requested that the MPDM draw up activities with the necessary costs as well as to request support and assistance of certain parties in an effort to help the young generation to be interested with participating in voluntary activities such as scouting.

“I am keen in supporting scouting activities. However, I would like to suggest that the MPDM goes to the schools and meet with headmasters or principals of schools to get their cooperation to resolve the problems and constraints that hinder the scout movement in the area,” he said.
