MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) will be taking stern action on food operators who resort to repeated usage of used cooking oil in their business.
Mayor Adam Yii on Monday told a full council meeting that during the latest joint inspection carried out by the MCC and the Health Department, cooking oil was tested on site and some of the readings were found to be above acceptable levels.
He said in view of this, two food premises located at the Bandar Baru Permyjaya Commercial area were given verbal warnings and notices served on them to stop the usage of used cooking oil.
“The City Council in collaboration with public health authorities and health officers from Ministry of Health will carry out inspections from time to time and the public can lodge their complaints or furnish information on this matter to us or notify the Divisional Health Department,” Yii said.
Also present during the meeting was Yii’s deputy, Julaihi Mohamad.
