SRI AMAN: The situation of serious illegal waste dumping in the fire-affected area near Kampung STC and Taman Harmoni here needs to be monitored by the Sri Aman District Council (MDSA).

Community Wellbeing assistant minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the fire that came from the dumping site proved the occurrence of fire, however, nobody knows who the culprit was.

“The MDSA should take enforcement action to monitor areas that are suspected to be involved, especially in the two burning areas now,” he said.

Francis who is also the Simanggang assemblyman said this when met here yesterday.

“If there was no enforcement action taken, then it will become worse. This is because the individuals would take the easy and cheaper way out compared to dumping the waste to the established dumping site.

“Therefore, I have instructed the MDSA to take action and anyone who is caught dumping waste in the area can be subject to a penalty,” he said.
