SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) must strive to restore the community’s confidence and trust in the effort to revive the economy, which has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh said the council would be issuing vaccination confirmation certificate to its traders who have been fully vaccinated to assure patrons of their safety.

On Sunday (July 18), Ting visited business premises along Jalan Channel here to inform owners of the premises on filling in the form to obtain the certificate from SMC.

He said that the issuance of vaccination confirmation certificates was a timely effort as many traders in the city had suffered losses.

“This initiative to issue the vaccination certificate can help restore the people’s confidence and hence boost economic activity in Sibu town.

“This is the SMC way. We can see, now a lot of people do not want to go to the market, business premises or go out of the house. Hence, causing businesses to suffer losses.

“With the vaccination certificate from the SMC which is to be displayed in front of the business premises, the community will definitely feel safe to visit it because all the shop employees have been vaccinated. This is what I mean to restore public confidence and trust in the business sector in Sibu,” he explained.
