Council told to monitor construction projects

KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin has asked Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to monitor and supervise the construction works of Kota Sentosa Town Square and the recreation parks.

This is because according to him both projects would provide a conducive venue for the public to congregate and organise social activities and events.

“Once it is completed, both of the parks will provide active recreation opportunities for all ages and generally contribute towards improving the quality of life for the local communities as well as improving property values for the area.

“I have asked MPP to continue monitor as closely as possible to ensure the works are completed the benefits from the upgrading works can be delivered on time for the benefit of the public,” he said.

He said this in a recent statement after witnessing the handing over of letter of award and site to the successful contractors for four Sarawak government Rural Transformation Projects 2023 for Kota Sentosa constituency.

The projects, which cost a total of RM850,000 by MPP with the sum of RM200,000 approved for Taman Rekreasi Olive Garden, Mile 7, RM100,000 for Lorong 7 (Semaba Park) and RM50,000 for Lorong Jalan Semaba 2B2 and RM500,000 for Kota Sentosa Town Square for the upgrading works to be implemented by MPP.

“The upgrading works for the four projects are all scheduled for completion by the first half of 2024,” he added.
