KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) sent its sympathies to the family of the man who died when a section of Jalan Batu Kitang collapsed in July 2021.
Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen had alleged that MPP failed to give any compensation to the victim’s family.
“Chong being a lawyer and an MP for the last 18 years should provide advice and assist the family of the deceased if the claims made against MPP are true and if he honestly believes that MPP is responsible for the tragedy,” MPP chairman Lo Khere Chiang said in a statement on Thursday (Jan 27).
Lo added that MPP was taken aback by such baseless accusations and claims made by a senior politician against it.
“He (Chong) has even assumed the post of a Deputy Minister during Pakatan Harapan’s tenure and the accusation he made has tarnished the good name of the council.
“Chong should get all his facts right before making such wild allegations against the council.”
