KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be ushering in the new year with performances, games, and fireworks at its New Year Countdown 2020.

The countdown will be held on December 31 from 9pm onwards, and for the first time, it will be organised at MBKS Square — the open space in front of the MBKS Building at Padungan Road.

During the celebration, numerous artistes from West Malaysia and Kuching — many with admirable credentials under their belts — will entertain the crowd.

These performers include Rynn Lim Yee Chung, Vic Teo, Eric Lim Kien Fei, Adelynna Yang Tze Wee, Faye An Ying Fei, Teo Eng San, Nicole Kho, Julisha Jeraie, and Joseph.

There will also be K-pop dance performances by KinAte and The Spectacular as well.

During a press conference at MBKS here yesterday, its mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said that there will also be food and drink stalls at the event.

“At the event, we will be introducing our councillors to the people so that they will be able to have good rapport. Councillors are here to serve,” he said.

He expressed hope that through such events, togetherness can be fostered between the public and the council.

“That will hopefully create a sense of belonging.”

Wee said that the countdown was also a platform for local talents to perform with internationally-recognised artistes and gain more exposure.

The countdown concert’s official hotel is Riverside Majestic Hotel while the official radio station is Tea FM.
