BAU: Country music enthusiasts can look forward to and be enthralled by country musicians with their coming performances on this July 23 and 24.
This event will be held at Lobuh Town, Bau in conjunction with the official launching of a business entity known as Pub Street at Lobuh Town that will be launching its business tomorrow (Saturday July 23).
Deputy Minister for Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, cum Tasik Biru assemblyman, has been invited to the official launching of the event, later in the evening at 7pm.
For those who love country music, they will be mesmerised as various country music bands have been invited to perform on both dates. These include Mountain Wind Band, an Orang Ulu band making its way from Miri, country music singer Peter Engkasan who hails from Saratok in Betong Division, as well as Kelabit country music singer Roland Terewae from Bintulu plus popular Bidayuh country music singer, Jason Chambers from Kuching.
Country Music Sheriff William Ding said this in an interview with New Sarawak Tribune on Thursday (July 21).
“Due to the MCO, initially we have been contemplating to organise it”
“There was a long break and people have started to get a little bored of life and I think this is appropriate for this point in time to organise this event”, he enthused.
“I want to see Bau town more vibrant and with Bau, business as usual is no longer a slogan.
“We want those country music lovers who love to dance away listening to country music and come for both dates,” he pointed out.
He stressed that Lobuh in Bidayuh means open space playground and expects a huge crowd in particular those country music lovers.
“We are expecting a few hundred people coming to attend the event, even from as far as Kota Kinabalu and Miri.
The last time a country music event was held was in Siniawan, namely organised in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
“There was a hiatus of two years due to the MCO and lockdowns. Lobuh in Bau is an appropriate place for people to gather because it is an open space and the ambience is nice and has a spacious parking space,” he explained.
Ding hopes that those with families will be able to enjoy themselves and have a good time to indulge in the bountiful and luxurious array of food available.
“There won’t be any tickets and entrance fees; there will be 14 food stalls available where food and drinks will be sold at reasonable prices,” he shared.
Adding further, Datuk Harry Henry Jinep will award a special appreciation certificate to all six local bands from various kampungs who have performed at the Lobuh.
“This will be the first time that a country music will be held in Bau town”, he said.
The theme of the PubStreet@Lobuh Bau will be Cowboy’s Nite, inviting everyone to come in their cowboy’s attire to brighten up the atmosphere.
