KUCHING: Seliman Bandang, the oldest man in Malaysia, from Rumah Mulok, Klua Krian in Saratok, has passed away today (Aug 19) at the age of 113.
According to a news report by TVS, Seliman, who was recognised as the country’s oldest living man by the Malaysia Book of Records in 2021, breathed his last breath at Saratok Hospital at about 5.20am this morning.
“The last respect ceremony for the deceased will be held on Aug 21 at Rumah Mulok.
“The deceased will then be buried on Aug 22 at the Klua Christian Cemetery, Saratok,” TVS said.
The deceased left behind two children, nine grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Seliman, who was from Tenggalat, Saratok, was born on March 21, 1910.
He has previously shared his secret to longevity, which he said was no big secret but that one must always maintain a healthy diet and live a happy life.
Seliman, who lived a stress-free daily life, also completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccination.
His grandson, Michael Bandang Tinggai, 26, said his grandfather always keeps his life simple and spends most of the time with the children and relatives living nearby.
