MIRI: A man and a woman in Lopeng were arrested for allegedly threatening to beat their neighbour over a water pipe issue on Friday.
The suspects were taken to the police station at 2.25pm to facilitate investigation into the case.
It is understood that the suspects and the victim are renting the same house.
The man in his 60s had accused the complainant for stealing a water pipe, whereas the woman in her 50s, told residents around the neighbourhood that she wanted to beat the victim and her child.
Following the incident, the 62-year-old complainant lodged a police report as she feared for the safety of her child and herself.
District deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol who confirmed the case, said it is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, police arrested two men within five hours after they broke into a house and stole two electric drills on Friday.
The 9am incident that occurred at Jalan Heleconia Pujut 5D here was captured on closed circuit television (CCTV).
After finding two of his drills valued at RM700 having gone missing, the complainant speedily lodged a police report.
Mohd Sabri said a CID team managed to arrest the suspects in a house at Jalan Pujut Corner around 2.30pm after examining the CCTV footage.
“During the arrest, the team managed to recover the stolen items and two bicycles.
“Background checks found that both suspects aged 28 and 35, had eight records related to burglary, drugs and trespassing,” he said.
