BETONG: Two toddlers escaped unscathed while an elderly couple sustained light injuries after their car skidded and crashed by the roadside near Layar Petronas fuel station, Jalan Pan-Borneo yesterday (July 30).

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant director of operations Henderi Ardimansyah said firemen from Betong station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 5.20 pm.

The driver and his passengers were rescued by members of the public.

On arrival, the firemen confirmed the accident involving a Perodua Iriz and promptly attended to the injured victims, both in their 60s.

“Initial treatment were provided for the man who sustained light injuries to his face and the woman who complained of pelvic pain.

“The two girls, aged two and three, did not sustain any injuries,” he said.
