KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here today (Mar 1) fined a man RM2,000 in default three months’ imprisonment for drug abuse.
Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali imposed the fine on Bazi, 21, from Kampung Cemerlang, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to the charge sheet, he was involved in the use of type 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid drug which is punishable under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. The section carries imprisonment of up to two years or fined not more than RM5,000 and placed under immediate supervision for a period not exceeding three years.
Bazi committed the offence while detained at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) of the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) around 6.45 pm on January 21, 2023.
Based on the facts of the case, the accused’s urine screening test was found to be positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine drugs.
