Covid-19: S’wak again records zero positive cases

KUCHING: Sarawak today recorded yet another zero positive Covid-19 cases for the fifth consecutive day while the total number of positive cases remained at 552 since the first positive case was reported on March 13.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said there was also no newly discharged patients with the total number of patients discharged at 508 or 92.03 percent.

“There are 37 new person under investigation (PUI) cases while 11 are awaiting laboratory test results,” it said in a statement.

A total of 339 samples were collected in Belawai, Tanjung Manis as of yesterday (May 31) in which 312 of the tests had come back negative while another 11 are currently awaiting laboratory test results.

On the inter-district travel applications, SDMC said 2,071 applications had been received by 28 police district headquarters statewide, bringing the cumulative total to 93,784.

“Of the total, 85,495 applications have been approved while 8,289 applications were rejected,” it said.

It also stated that the surveillance team comprising 766 personnel had inspected 1,770 locations which include 239 supermarkets, restaurants (356), factories (17), banks (149), government offices (89), hawker centres (15), markets (107), places of worship (100), recreational area (37), construction sites (16), and others (645).

SDMC said seven individuals were arrested today for flouting the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

“Thirty-two individuals were issued compounds for trying to make inter-district commutes without police permits. This brings the total number of compounds issued to 185 since May 19,” said SDMC.

SDMC said as of yesterday, 23,078 reopening notifications of economic sectors were received.
