KUCHING: Police are hoping for a smooth and safe voting process tomorrow as Sarawakians are expected to come out en masse to polling stations across the state to fulfil their responsibility as voters.
State police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri in a statement, stressed that strict actions will await those who attempt to disrupt public order.
“To ensure that the voting process runs smoothly and safely without any untoward incidents, strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disrupt public order in this state.
“Other than that, contesting parties and their candidates are advised to always abide by the laws and standard operating procedures (SOPs) set in place,” he said.
In addition, all political parties are also reminded to not hold any campaigns or political talks after 11.59pm today.
Thorough preparations were made to face polling day with a total of 7,701 police personnel to be stationed at 1,943 polling stations with 4,286 streams to ensure public safety and order is maintained.
