KUCHING: Six duty handing over ceremonies involving four senior police officers and two district Police Family Association (PERKEP) chairwomen, took place here yesterday (Aug 22).

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri was present to witness the ceremonies between police officers at the Senior Police Officers Mess here.

In his speech, Azman congratulated all of the police officers and expressed his pride to have worked with them.

“I hope that the promotion will be a good motivation to carry out your duties well.

“To those who will leave the contingent, DCP Gilberd and Supt Boniface, I wish them all the best and extend my thanks to them for their devoted service to the contingent,” he said.

The first handing over of duties took place between DCP Gilberd Philip Layang and ACP James Jonathan for the Sarawak Management Department chief position.

Gilberd, who was the former Sarawak Management Department chief with the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC), has been promoted to Bukit Aman Management Department Deputy Director (Administration) with the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

Gilberd’s position will be temporarily taken over by James who is the Sarawak Management Department Administration Staff Officer.

Meanwhile, the second handing over of duties took place between James and Supt Sudirman Kram for the Sarawak IPK Administration Superintendent position.

James was the former Sarawak IPK Administration Superintendent and his position is taken over by Supt Sudirman Kram.

The third handing over of duties took place between former Kota Samarahan district police chief (OCPD) Supt Sudirman Kram and incoming police chief DSP Brodie Brangka for the Kota Samarahan OCPD position.

The fourth handing over was between former Sri Aman OCPD DSP Boniface Bajai and Sri Aman Management Division chief ASP Mass Nur Haslinda for the position of Sri Aman OCPD.

Boniface promoted to the rank of Superintendent, will be transferred to Bukit Aman Management Department to serve as the Superintendent of Task Force and Modern Policing in the Human Resource Policy Division.

The fifth and sixth handing over of duties was for the Kota Samarahan and Sri Aman districts’ PERKEP chairperson positions, which was witnessed by Sarawak PERKEP chairwoman Datin Nassariah Mohd Nasir.

Outgoing Kota Samarahan PERKEP chairwoman Dayang Zainab Abang Mahmud handed over her duties to incoming Kota Samarahan PERKEP chairwoman Kepah Ugak.

Outgoing Sri Aman PERKEP chairwoman Tayie Ankus handed over her duties to incoming Sri Aman PERKEP chairwoman Theresa @ Sanggau Giang.
